ASBESTOS ABATEMENT MONITORING AND CLEARANCES

Polytechnique is supporting the Montebello Unified School District (MUSD) with hazardous building materials consulting services to support compliance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act requirements. Our team performed asbestos abatement monitoring and clearance air sampling tasks to support a flooring replacement project at two MUSD elementary schools. At one school, the lab data documented overloaded debris in air samples from nearby construction tasks. Our team conducted additional cleaning tasks, re-sampled air, worked with MUSD staff and the construction team to limit dust, and evaluated asbestos fiber levels for remaining work areas. These areas achieved permissible airborne limits at first sampling, allowing MUSD to complete the new flooring installations. Our team met the schedule so that MUSD could start summer school on time.
